SAFE SUMMER CYCLING:

Hot summer cycling tips to help you stay safe bicycling in the summer heat. You need to be prepared to keep your self safe. Summertime offers many cycling dangers including the potential to suffer a heat stoke if not prepared.

  • Drink plenty of water: when cycling you will lose a lot of moisture through your skin. It is important to keep your body hydrated by drinking lots of water, which can be stored in a bottle that clips neatly to your bicycle frame.

  • Keep the sun off your head: wearing a bike helmet is essential for safety, but in the summer sun it also helps provide shade.

  • Take breaks: If you feel you are getting too hot while cycling then stop. Make sure you pull over to the side of the road safely, away from traffic.

  • Be seen: although it does not get dark until late in the summer, do not get caught out without your lights.

Compact Road Design

On paper, Giant's TCR stands for 'Total Compact Road'. But ask any racer who has been around for the past decade and you'll surely get an additional response - because you can't talk about TCR without mentioning 'Revolution'.

We're not talking one of the countless marketing driven 'revolutions' you hear about these days, we're talking a real revolution - one that changed the face of high-performance bicycles forever. It's known as the Compact Road Design, and it's the backbone of every Giant road bicycle. In fact, Giant's Compact Road Design made such a big impact on the way bicycles are made, it's hard to find a high-performance bicycle these days that doesn't copy Giant's original sloping toptube design.

Three Qualities of Compact Road that Every rider Can Appreciate

  1. By effectively sloping the toptube downward toward the seatstays, Giant was able to reduce the overall size of the front and rear frame triangles, resulting in the now-distinctive compact layout. Functionally, the compact configuration reduces weight and increased lateral rigidity. As a result, the frame accelerates faster thanks to less energy loss through unwanted flex.
  2. Stiffer is more efficient, but it doesn't always offer the most comfortable ride. To address this, Giant engineers are careful to include just the right amount of vertical compliance (a good thing) into each Compact Road Design for increased forgiveness and control.
  3. A Full Range of Sizes - up to seven in some series, assures that riders of every size can find their ideal fit.
