SAFE SUMMER CYCLING:

Hot summer cycling tips to help you stay safe bicycling in the summer heat. You need to be prepared to keep your self safe. Summertime offers many cycling dangers including the potential to suffer a heat stoke if not prepared.

  • Drink plenty of water: when cycling you will lose a lot of moisture through your skin. It is important to keep your body hydrated by drinking lots of water, which can be stored in a bottle that clips neatly to your bicycle frame.

  • Keep the sun off your head: wearing a bike helmet is essential for safety, but in the summer sun it also helps provide shade.

  • Take breaks: If you feel you are getting too hot while cycling then stop. Make sure you pull over to the side of the road safely, away from traffic.

  • Be seen: although it does not get dark until late in the summer, do not get caught out without your lights.

2010 Giant Lifestyle Bicycles

Comfort

The Cypress hybrid and Sedona comfort models blend the best characteristics of both road and mountain bikes into a bike that is sturdy, comfortable and fast, and ideal for riding on streets and bike paths. A hybrid is a good choice for in-town street riding as well as riding the local metro park bike path. The comfort bike is well suited to dirt roads, city streets, and bike paths, though they are a little slower than a hybrid bike.

Cruiser

Fun. Comfortable. Cruiser bikes are a blast to ride! Whether you are riding out on the beach, through the metro parks, or tooling around the neighborhood, there is a sweet Giant Simple cruiser bike to suit your needs.

Single Speed

A single speed bike only has one gear, a single cog attached to a freewheel hub which allows the rider to coast when going downhill but forces additional effort when faced with a steep climb. For single speed enthusiasts, a bike with one gear is simply more enjoyable to ride. With no worries about when to shift gear, riders are free to enjoy the scenery and fresh aromas around them.

Commuter

Commute to work and save the planet at the same time! Commuter bikes are a perfect choice for those of us who are tired of the gas bill going up every time we drive by the pump. Get out of the drivers seat and back on the saddle! The Giant Seek series of bikes, along with the ever popular TranSend models are a perfect way to stay fit and save cash at the same time. You'll be green while you save some green!
